HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – One person is dead after a two-vehicle accident Sunday morning, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
At around 7:45 am, MPs were called into the area of 2800 West US 52 because of a two-vehicle accident.
MPs said the head-on collision resulted in a 2019 Chevy Equinox with 66-year-old Michael L. Wilcox and a 2012 Ford Escape with 69-year-old Peggy Brune.
Michael A. Wilcox, 45, the son of the Equinox driver, was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
An investigation into the fatal crash revealed that the Escape was traveling east on US 52 while the Equinox was traveling west on US 52. As the two vehicles approached, the Equinox crossed the center line in the Escape’s path, which resulted in the crash.
Brune was taken to the Methodist Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Equinox driver and passenger were also rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
MEPs have said the Equinox driver is cooperating with their investigation.
Drugs and alcohol weren’t a factor in the fatal crash.
