INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship will have a new format this year.
The third annual 3v3 basketball tournament will take place April 2-4 at The Pavilion in downtown Indianapolis, where the 2021 NCAA tournament will take place.
Seniors from all 32 Division I conferences will join forces with other emerging professionals from across the country for a share of $ 150,000. This is one of the biggest prizes at a FIBA-approved 3-on-3 event. Each conference is paired with a different conference based on geographic region, comparable KenPom preseason rankings, and conference history at the national championship.
The teams will be split into two pools, resulting in more guaranteed games and chances of winning at the $ 150,000. The pool game will take place from April 2nd to 3rd.
Teams will make money in the round of 16, with prizes of $ 10,000 for semi-final winners and $ 50,000 for champions.
The Colonial Athletic Association won the 2019 tournament at the Mall of America in Minneapolis in 2019. Last year’s tournament was canceled due to the pandemic.
