INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A new food truck from Indianapolis has two goals: to provide convenience foods and to provide employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.
A ribbon was cut Tuesday to showcase the Cheese and Thank You food truck, a program run by New Hope of Indiana, a nonprofit that provides services for people with disabilities, counseling for families in child care, and lobbying.
The foods you can buy at Cheese and Thank You are prepared, marketed and served by young adults with developmental disabilities.
“We have learned in recent years that there is a gap in services for young people with disabilities after graduation. You will have the opportunity to develop kitchen, marketing, customer service and sales skills, ”said Allison Wharry, CEO of New Hope of Indiana.
The Food truck menu offers two types of macaroni cheese and a variety of options.
