INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The North Split shutdown was officially in progress on Saturday, and a number of trucks and cars outside of town struggled to move through the downtown streets.
Some people sat in traffic for an additional 30-40 minutes as cars and semis were secured on Interstate 70 heading west.
The semis was in abundance in the city center on Saturday. One by one walked the streets of the city as part of the great interstate shutdown.
Saturday was the first day of the construction project, which is expected to last for the next 18 months.
With more exits closed on Saturday night and the split completely closed before Monday, remember to be prepared.
