Authorities said four Indianapolis police officers were hired to assist roles pending an investigation into the use of batons and pepperballs to subjugate two women in a protest last weekend against the death of George Floyd.
Police spokeswoman Aliya Wishner said Friday the officers’ reassignments do not mean they will be taken on administrative leave.
Police Chief Randal Taylor and Mayor Joe Hogsett were due to hold a press conference on Friday to address this investigation and other issues arising from the riot in Indiana’s capital last weekend.
The incident in which the two women were subjected was captured on video and posted on social media.
