INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Are you looking for a way to help?
The Gleaners Food Bank in Indiana is currently suffering from a volunteer shortage.
The organization says 350 shifts are unmanned for the week of May 10th. There will also be opportunities on Saturday morning on May 15 and 22.
“When we asked for help, the community always responded,” said Sarah Estell, senior director, strategic communications. “We hope they keep hearing us and decide that a few hours of free time over the coming weeks and months is a great way to get involved and help the neighbors who are still struggling during this time.”
The group says they need more than 600 volunteers each week to provide aid to Hoosiers in need. The pandemic placed an additional burden on the organization, as it provided for twice as many families before the pandemic.
