INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis City Police honored fallen officer Breann Leath with a memorial workout challenge on Thursday.
On Friday it was a year since Officer Leath was killed on duty.
The event took place in the department’s training academy on North Post Road.
Participants had two training options: yellow or black. According to the IMPD, black workout would be what Leath would have chosen: run a mile, then do six dozen pushups and squats, then a burpee series. There are a total of 231 repetitions – Leath’s number of the resting unit.
An IMPD official told News 8 that Leath would have been delighted if everyone had attended the fitness event.
“Believe it. She would take part too. It is a positive thing and it can be a challenge even to people, being here means a lot,” said Babacar Diouf.
On Friday, Leath’s family will celebrate privately to honor them. According to the IMPD, several ceremonies and services are planned for the next few days.
