Some of the best food and drink in Indianapolis will come together with drivers and speedway personalities at the Rev event this weekend. At the official start of the celebrations in May at the IMS, the evening will be billed as a celebration to kick off the biggest month, in which guests can meet the stars of the racetrack and dine from the city’s top chefs. Rev is now in its fifth year and is being held throughout the Pagoda, Pavilions, and even the famous Yard of Bricks. It’s a fundraiser that will benefit Indiana University Health’s statewide trauma and critical care programs.
But enough of the courtesies. Here is what you should be eating.
The chefs were asked to team up with IndyCar drivers to create a cocktail. That means albondigas, or spicy Spanish meatballs from Delicious for driver Gabby Chaves, while Frenchman Sébastien Bourdais presents fashionable delicacies from Chocolate for the mindand shepherd’s pie skewers District town soups are a reference to the home of driver Jack Harvey in England. Dozens of other “driver-inspired” snacks will highlight the event. If this year’s Rev is anything like it was in the past, diners will be so overwhelmed with food and drink that they can absently stroll past the boxes of Jack’s donuts distributed at the exits. You may receive a warning flag for this.
