Sweets & Snacks Expo 2021 goes to Indianapolis

WASHINGTON, DC – For the first time in the event’s history, Indianapolis is hosting the 2021 Sweets & Snacks Expo (SSE) hosted by the National Confectioners Association (NCA).

Traditionally held at McCormick Place in Chicago, this year’s event will take place from June 23rd to 35th at the Indiana Convention Center. M.More than 400 of the leading confectionery and snack companies will present the most innovative products in the industry for two years.

“The Sweets & Snacks Expo is an opportunity for the confectionery and snacks industry to come together and share their latest new products and innovations,” said John Downs, President and CEO of NCA. “This year, this event is even more important as confectionery and snacks have helped consumers improve their emotional wellbeing in a challenging time. We know that after a year of treatment and snacking at home during the pandemic, they are hungry for something new. “Product innovations from their favorite brands.”

According to the NCA, 2,250 retail visitors with 1,400 banners from all trade classes are expected. In addition, more than 70 suppliers will take part in the first Supplier Showcase, which will take place on Tuesday, June 22nd, one day before the start of the trade fair.

The Sweets & Snacks Expo 2021 will also highlight merchandising trends and inspiration from destination retail. The platform allows attendees to immerse themselves in front-end and center-store merchandising samples and training sessions that provide thoughtful ways to:

  • Innovative checkout experiences and e-commerce platforms;
  • Promote incremental purchases through emerging and under-indebted moments and opportunities; and
  • Incentives for purchases in the queue at the moment and beyond.

“This year has shown the importance of connecting with consumers where they are most comfortable. Destination Retail explores how key consumer rituals, celebrations and occasions become opportunities to attract shoppers and inspire new occasions to buy, ”added Downs. “Sweets and snacks are an integral part of how we make our days special during this uncertain time, and when we return to the stores it is important to inspire retailers and consumers to explore the powerful categories of goodies and snacks to enjoy.”

The SSE show management, the City of Indianapolis and the Indiana Convention Center worked together to ensure that the Sweets & Snacks Expo 2021 was successful and safe for all attendees.

The city of Indianapolis invested $ 7 million to modernize the convention center, including hospital-grade air filters, touchless doors, Clorox 360 plumbing, hand sanitizing stations, and secure concessions and dining areas.

In addition, the show requires masking, social distancing, and daily temperature checks.
