MUNCIE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – A Muncie-based vegan food company plans to open its first downtown store and seeks help from fans and strangers alike. Sea Salt and Cinnamon has launched a campaign on the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform and is looking for investments of USD 30,000.
The site shows that the entrepreneurs are halfway there.
The vegan food company was founded in 2014 by the couple Kyle and Amanda Reninger. Their plant-based products were limited to cupcakes, but the menu has grown since then.
The goods are sold in various locations in Muncie, Fort Wayne, and Indianapolis, but the couple say they are ready to start their own business.
“We want to be able to share that compassion for our community, for people outside our community, and for the animals we share the planet with,” said Kyle Reninger, president of acquisitions at Sea Salt and Cinnamon. “Just as our food invites people to compassion, we want a physical space where people can also invite compassion.”
According to Reninger, despite the challenges of the pandemic, sea salt and cinnamon grew by 15% last year.
The company has grown to nine employees. She hopes to expand the business with additional retail items. The Reningers say they also hope to take on more events like weddings.
“It’s a lot, but I think we can do it. We are well supported by our community and in this way we look forward to serving the community again, ”said Amanda Reninger.
